Sailing Ship Relief — From Digital Sculpture to Physical FormThis project was created as a custom commission, based on reference images provided by the client. The goal was to translate a traditional sailing ship motif into a detailed relief sculpture, preserving recognizable proportions while adapting the design for digital sculpting and physical production. The form was developed in 3D with a focus on layered sails, depth, and a clear silhouette — ensuring the composition would remain expressive both as a digital model and as a finished object. The result demonstrates how client-driven references can be transformed into a refined sculptural piece, bridging concept, digital execution, and real–world fabrication. |

The bas-relief in its original applicationDeveloped as a large–scale decorative panel, the sculpture was translated into a CNC–milled wooden element designed for a custom headboard. This project reflects how digital sculptural work can extend beyond small-scale objects, becoming part of architectural and interior compositions. |
Later, the bas–relief was reinterpreted as an independent sculptural object. The composition was carefully adapted to a smaller scale, preserving the depth and movement of the relief while making it suitable for physical production. Two variations were developed: a wall–mounted piece and a freestanding version. |
The freestanding version required a dedicated structural solution.A custom base was developed to support the composition in a near–vertical position, balancing stability and visual lightness. Multiple iterations were made to achieve the correct angle, ensuring the object remains stable without losing its sculptural character. |

The sculpture realized as a physical object.Produced using 3D printing and finished by hand, the surface was refined to achieve an antique bronze appearance. |

A wall–mounted variation of the sculpture.Designed to function as a decorative relief, the piece integrates into interior space while preserving the depth and dynamics of the original composition. The surface reveals a subtle layered texture formed during the printing process, creating a soft light interaction across the sails and enhancing the material character of the object. |

In its black finish, the sculpture takes on a more graphic and architectural presence, emphasizing silhouette and contrast. In natural light, the form interacts with its surroundings — shifting between object and shadow, between detail and outline. The piece exists equally as a sculptural object and as a visual statement within space. |
