The presented sculpture is a final version of the restored sculptural composition “Friendship of Peoples” (Zaporizhzhia, Ukraine)
The monument, which was created in the first half of the 50s of the twentieth century and is better known as the "Fountain of Friendship" in the Pioneers Square. I worked on the restoration of this sculptural composition as the chief sculptor-restorer. And it really was a reconstruction, a revival in a new time, rather than just a restoration. First, there was nothing to restore, the monument was almost completely destroyed (by time and, unfortunately, by vandals). Secondly, new times require a new look. So I removed the symbols of the Soviet era, in which an original composition was created, and gave the figures a more modern and realistic images, while keep the main idea of the work — friendship between peoples. I hope everyone will enjoy the new look of the restored monument. I spent a lot of time and effort to do this …and to make this composition even better than it was before. ***** The full version of the story about this project, you can see in my Blog. |
